48: Elizabeth Endres and Dale Borchiver, co-founders of Sweats and the City (@sweatsandthecity)
On this episode, I sit down with co-founders of Sweats and the City, Elizabeth and Dale. They discuss how their shared love for boutique fitness classes inspired them to begin reviewing studios after noticing a gap in the market for unbiased reviews. They dive into their goals for growing their account and compare our challenges when acclimating to new fitness classes. Elizabeth and Dale also elaborate on their methods of how they honestly review studios without bashing them.
Follow Up Q&A:
First thing you do in the morning? E: Meditation passage + journaling! Always try for before phone or emails. D: Make my bed, Nespresso + breakfast.
What advice would you give your younger self? E: Don't sweat what others are doing/thinking/saying ... it has nothing to do with you! D: Trust the process. Everyone has a unique path that happens at their own right time and you have to trust that what is meant to happen for you will. Failures are a GOOD thing and will guide you to where you're meant to go.
Wellness trend you love and wellness trend you wish would end? E: Love - anti-diet movement, wish would end - overly aggressive massage disguised as 'lymphatic drainage' (I'm all about the light touch version). D: Love - Same as Eliz, anti-diet movement and embracing individuality. End - People thinking that vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free (anything "free") equates to being "healthy." No it doesn't, it just means it's free of that ingredient/foodgroup. Sometimes having the real thing is the healthier choice for your body and mind!
First Job? E: Fund Accountant. D: Sales assistant at a fashion corporation.
Proudest moment? E: Quitting my job to do SATC full time. D: Obtaining my working visa for Sweats! I was told by so many lawyers I couldn't do it, so the day I got it, I was so proud.
3 most used emojis? E: 🙃😁🥴D: 🥰🤷🏼♀️😁
Favorite ice cream flavor? E: Cookie dough. D: Mint Choc Chip for life.
Go-to recipe? E: gluten-free pesto pasta loaded with whatever veggies I have in the fridge. D: Asian-style sesame salmon with air fried veggies and brown rice!
Bath or shower? E: Shower. D: Shower.
Sweet or savory? E: Sweet. D: Sweet.
